The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won the IPL 2025 after 18 years of wait. The team defeated Punjab Kings and clinched a victory by 6 wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, the side showcased a well balanced squad with lethal bowling and batting attack.
But ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, there are a few players who are likely to be released by the franchise.
The strong all-rounder from England was one of most expensive buys for RCB but his 2025 season turned out to be very disappointing. Touted for the middle order, Livingstone’s cameos turned out to be short and he just managed to score 112 runs in 9 matches with a dismal average of 16.

The young pacer from Jammu and Kashmir turned heads at the auction, he was brought in for his pace and swing. Even though he featured in two matches he couldn’t leave much impact and managed to pick only one wicket in the two outings with an economy of 10.62.
The seamer from Uttar Pradesh was picked up for his base price and added for his swing utility. At 23, he offers variety of angle into right-handers and domestic hauls but in IPL 2025 he didn’t get a chance to play.
Mohit Rathee, the all-rounder was picked up for his base price for his gritty batting and left-arm spin. Yet, he played sparingly mostly as a concussion sub and contributed negligibly: A few overs at 8+ economy, no standout knocks.

New Zealand’s hard-hitting opener was roped in as a late-season replacement, and he will be released considering the terms of his contract of being a temporary replacement. With Jitesh Sharma and Phil Salt already doing a great job in the team, RCB is more likely to go with their established match winners.
