A terrific first innings from the away side, as RCB score 221/5. Despite some tight bowling from Jasprit Bumrah, Jitesh Sharma hit a big maximim and had a good decision in the last ball, reversing an LBW decision given against him.
Mumbai Indians need 222 runs in the second winnings to win the game (required run rate of more than 11). Not impossible for Hardik Pandya and Co. but it’s going to be a cracking chase.
Stay tuned for our second half coverage!
RCB 221/5 in 20 overs
What a fantastic catch from Ryan Rickelton to dismiss Rajat Patidar. The RCB skipper tried to scoop a wide delivery from Boult, but catches the ball on the edge which sends it high up. Wicketkeeper Rickelton runs all the way back and dives forward with the ball in his gloves. A fantastic knock comes to an end.
Rajat Patidar 64(32) c Rickelton b Boult
Royal Challengers Bengaluru crossed the 200-mark in the first ball of the 19th over in style, with Jitesh Sharma hitting a massive six off Trent Boult. Brilliant movement of the wrist, and that’s a big maximum!
RCB 205/4 in 18.1 overs
MI skipper Hardik Pandya delivers with the ball at a crucial juncture. He first sends back the red-hot Virat Kohli (67 off 42) with a length ball that is mishit to deep mid wicket. Two balls later, Pandya sees the back of Liam Livingstone with a wide bouncer that is top-edged to Bumrah at short third. Mumbai have pulled things back admirably before the death overs.
RCB 151-4 (15 overs)
Virat Kohli smacks left-arm spinner Vignesh Puthur for an imperious six to bring up a superlative half-century off just 29 deliveries. But the tweaker responds soon by getting rid of Devdutt Padikkal, whose miscued lofted shot is caught well by Will Jacks at long on. The southpaw departs, but not before playing a handy 22-ball 37. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar joins Kohli.
RCB 100/2 (10 overs)
Virat Kohli looks like a man on fire in the early powerplay overs. He has hit two boundaries and one maximum in the last two overs, including a giant six off Jasprit Bumrah. He is moving his hands and feet elegantly, and MI bowlers might have a day to forget if he maintains this form in the middle overs.
Virat Kohli 35*(18)
Despite the early setbacks, RCB are enjoying their time at Wankhede. Five fours and one six aleady, as both Kohli and Padikkal are going after Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult.
Hardik Pandya has finally turned to Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth over. Will he be able to stop the runs from leaking?
RCB 33/1 after 3 overs
What a comeback from Trent Boult. After being smashed to the covers by Phil Salt in the first ball of the match, the pacer roars back with an immaculate delivery. Salt completely misses the ball, which smashes all three stumps.
An early breakthrough for Mumbai, and Boult enjoyed that – his reaction makes it very evident.
Phil Salt 4(2) b Boult
Left-arm pacer Trent Boult is starting the bowling for Mumbai Indians, while RCB have sent Phil Salt and Virat Kohli as the opening partnership. Salt with the first strike.
Mumbai Indians have one slip fielder in place for Boult.
