PM Modi React UNESCO recognized Srimad Bhagavadgita Natyashastra as world heritage included them in Memory of World Register ann
Bhagavad gita recognized by UNESCO: India’s cultural and philosophical heritage has received a major identity on the global stage. The Natyashastra composed by Srimad Bhagavadgita and Bharat Muni has been included in UNESCO’s ‘Memory of the World Register’. With this announcement, 14 invaluable works of India have now become a part of this international list.
Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gave this information on social media platform X and described it as a historic moment for the cultural consciousness of India. Shekhawat wrote that “Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Natyashastra are not only texts, but the original pillars of India’s thinking, life vision and artistic expressions. These texts not only gave direction to India, but also gave a new vision of soul and beauty to the world.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed happiness
UNESCO’s ‘Memory of the World’ register includes the heritage selected from all over the world, which play an important role in preserving the history, culture and knowledge of human civilization. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed happiness over this achievement and said that this is a matter of pride for every Indian. He wrote on social media, “Gita and Natyashastra being included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register is the global recognition of our eternal knowledge and cultural glory. For centuries these texts have given direction to human consciousness and civilization and even today their teachings inspire the world.”

The world’s oldest religious texts
Earlier, files related to the Rigveda, Tawang scripture, saint Tukaram’s stable compositions have also been included in this list. Also, the Rigveda, which is considered to be the oldest religious text in the world, is already included in the ‘Memory of the World Register’ of UNESCO. It was found in this international list in 2007, at that time UNESCO recognized it that the Rigveda is not only a religious or spiritual book, but it is also an invaluable document of the early thinking, language, philosophy and cultural structure of human civilization.
