Mumbai Indians cruised to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League, chasing down a modest 144-run target with 26 balls to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday.
After being asked to bowl first, Mumbai’s pace spearhead Trent Boult delivered early breakthroughs, removing Travis Head for a duck and Abhishek Sharma for 8. He later returned to pick up two more wickets, finishing with figures of 4 for 27.
Sunrisers struggled to recover from the early collapse, losing four wickets inside the powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a fighting 71 off 44 balls, striking nine boundaries and two sixes. He received brief support from Abhinav Manohar, who scored 43 off 37, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to capitalise, posting 143 for 8 in 20 overs.
In reply, Mumbai openers started briskly. Rohit Sharma led the chase with a fluent 70 off 46 balls, peppering the boundary with eight fours and three sixes. Will Jacks added 22 before Suryakumar Yadav closed out the game in style, smashing an unbeaten 40 from just 19 deliveries.
