UPDATED:

Resurgent Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are gearing up to lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their IPL 2025 home game at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. RCB’s IPL 2025 campaign has been exceptional so far but their biggest headache this season has been their inability to notch a victory at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, despite having played three matches there.

Interestingly, in stark contrast to their home performance, Rajat Patidar‘s brigade has enjoyed remarkable success in their away games. They have clinched decisive wins in all five of their away fixtures, emerging victorious over formidable opponents such as Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR) themselves, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and even the defending champions KKR on their own turf.
Former India skipper Anil Kumble, who also previously captained RCB, has offered his insights to Rajat Patidar’s team regarding their struggles at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Kumble suggests that when batting first at their home venue, RCB batters need to carefully evaluate the pitch conditions and strategically determine a target score that would lead to a win. He also highlighted the team’s recent underwhelming performances at the iconic stadium.

“Batting first, they have not been great at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Assessing that pitch is really important, and they have not been able to do that batting first,” Kumble told Jio Star.
So far in IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have clocked five wins, all secured in away matches, while recording three defeats, all of which occurred on their home ground. With eight matches played, RCB currently hold the fourth position in the IPL 2025 points table, boasting a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.472.
Securing a win against Rajasthan Royals at this juncture of the tournament will only boost RCB’s playoff chances. Depending on the margin of win, it could potentially propel them into one of the top two positions in the ten-team standings. The upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals is scheduled to be hosted at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today, Thursday, April 24.
