IPL 2025: Travis Head Infected With COVID-19, To Miss SRH vs LSG Clash – Outlook India

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head has not yet returned to India as he has contracted COVID-19. The development was confirmed by their head coach Daniel Vettori.
The left-handed Australian batter will arrive in India on Monday morning, the day of SRH’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants. Head is all set to miss that match and his participation in SRH’s other remaining games is also uncertain.
While the SRH head coach confirmed that Head had contracted COVID-19, he did not specify when the Australia left-hander got infected with the virus.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters in the press conference.
With only seven points in 11 matches, SRH’s hopes of qualifying for the play-offs of IPL 2025 are already over. The runners-up of the previous season could only win three out of their 11 matches so far in the tournament. They are placed third from bottom with Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings being the only two sides below them.
Head too has not been at his best and his indifferent form has been a big reason behind SRH’s downfall. The aggressive left-hander has only scored 289 runs in 11 outings this season and has not been able to give his team the starts that he gave last year.
Head’s fitness is also a concern for Cricket Australia as after the IPL, the Australian side heads to Lord’s to play the World Test Championship Final against South Africa from June 11.
