Delhi Capitals Announce New Captain For IPL 2025 Season – Stadium Rant

Delhi Capitals have started a new era by appointing Axar Patel as their captain for the IPL 2025 season. According to the March 14 announcement, the franchise is starting in a new direction after Rishabh Pant’s exit. Since 2019, Axar has become a vital all-rounder and a well-regarded member of the Capitals. 
His value has been solidified, and his ascension to captaincy shows the team’s confidence in his leadership abilities, as evidenced by his constant performances with both bat and ball. His backing as the new captain comes from solid performances in white ball cricket for India. He was influential in landing the World T20 last year followed by the ICC Champions Trophy this year.
Following Rishabh Pant’s departure, the Delhi Capitals searched for a captain with poise and expertise. Though KL Rahul was under consideration, the front office chose Axar Patel, who had been vice-captain for two seasons. With a 7.09 economy rate, the left-arm allrounder has 62 wickets and 967 runs for Delhi Capitals in 82 games. 
His good relationships with team members and capacity to work under pressure made him the perfect choice to guide DC forward into the upcoming season. Emphasizing his capability to preserve the team’s ethics and rise when necessary, Franchise Chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi showed confidence in Axar’s leadership.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal noted Axar Patel’s development within the team, noting his changing from specialist spinner to reliable allrounder. Jindal is closely monitoring his development, and he thinks Axar’s leadership will invigorate the team and lead it toward success.
Even though Axar has little IPL captaincy experience, he has guided Gujarat in domestic cricket, showing his capacity to think strategically and manage stress. Creating a solid core within the team, seasoned players, including KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Mitchell Starc, will help to strengthen his leadership.
On getting appointed, Axar Patel thanked the coaching staff and franchise for their confidence in him. He accepted his development as a bowler with DC and eagerly anticipated the challenges. He also thanked the scouting department for putting together a well-rounded team that had a big effect this year.
Experienced in the position, Axar has played in 150 IPL games, scoring 1,653 runs and 123 wickets. His past successes, including a 2016 hat trick, underline his ability to change a game. Delhi Capitals will hope that under his direction, they will win the championship and seriously compete for IPL honors.
