Gujarat Titans (GT) lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Friday, May 30, at the Maharaja Yadavendra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur.
Both teams have had contrasting starts to their seasons. Gujarat seemed near perfect until their slip-up in the last two games, and had to settle for third spot.
Mumbai, on the other hand, had to make a comeback in the second half, after having lost four of their five matches at the start of the season. They had a chance to jump into the top 2 but a loss to PBKS in the last league match, saw them finish fourth in the standings.

Even though GT got the better of MI on both meetings this season, Mumbai is a dangerous team in the knockouts and boast plenty of experience in both their batting and bowling.
The Sporting News takes a look at the details ahead of the much-awaited clash at Mullanpur.

The two teams have faced each other seven times in IPL, where Gujarat have had the upper hand with five wins.
Mumbai have a 65% win record in the playoffs, and are a team with an ability to turn up when it matters the most. The stakes are high in this match– the loser will be knocked out while the winning team will have to play the losing team from Qualifier 1, to make it to the finals.

Mullanpur is typically known to be a balanced surface for both batters and bowlers. Expect the likes of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill with their conservative approach to be among the big scores again.
Jos Buttler’s unavailability could play a big factor, as Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis will need to quickly fill the void left by the Englishman.
The ball tends to grip off the pitch at Mullanpur; expect the likes of Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj to come in handy with their variations in length and pace.
Mumbai will be without Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks, who have made important contributions in MI’s run into the playoffs. Experienced campaigners Jonny Bairstow and Rohit Sharma will be tasked to provide a big start for the five-time champions.
