Mukesh Ambani’s MI New York are champions in Major League Cricket T20 league which is played in the United States.
US President Donald Trump has made decision to restrict entry of nationals from Afghanistan, apart from 11 other countries – Burma, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Trump said the ban is designed to ‘protect the national security and national interest of the United States and its people’.
Mukesh Ambani’s MI New York has 3 players from Afghanistan – Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq.
Rashid Khan has claimed 18 wickets in MLC in 13 matches for MI New York so far.
Players like Azmatullah Omarzai have already reached US for MLC 2025 season, which begin on June 12.
Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq will make debut for MI New York in the upcoming MLC 2025 season. An MLC spokesperson said: “We’re continuing to monitor the situation and are working with the relevant authorities to minimize travel disruptions for overseas players ahead of the start of Major League Cricket next week. We continue to attract some of the best players from around the world to come over to the US to showcase their talent, along with the best cricketers from the USA, and we are set to have the most exciting tournament to date this summer.”
CSK chinaman bowler Noor Ahmed of Texas Super Kings is also affected apart from Gulbadin Naib, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Waqar Salamkheil of Seattle Orcas.
