After IPL Ban, Digvesh Rathi Gets Punished Heavily In DPL For His Behaviour – Cricket.com

It seems as if controversy follows Digvesh Rathi wherever he goes. The Delhi youngster made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2025 with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and while he impressed everyone with his bowling, he also earned the reputation of being a ‘hothead’ due to his actions.
Animated celebrations and send-offs post dismissals became Digvesh’s trademark, and multiple small offences eventually led to him serving a one-match ban in IPL 2025.
New month, new tournament, but Digvesh finds himself in hot water again, this time in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025.
In the Eliminator clash on August 29 (Friday), the 25-year-old was involved in an ugly spat with West Delhi Lions captain Nitish Rana, and he has now been slapped with a heavy fine for his actions.
“Digvesh Rathi has been fined 80% of the Match Fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.2 (Level 2) for the conduct contrary to the spirit of the game,” DPL said in a statement.
Rana, meanwhile, also got handed a fine, albeit one less severe than that of Digvesh.
“Nitish Rana has been fined 50% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.6 (Level 1) – Using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during a match.”
The DPL stated that three other players had been slapped with fines. West Delhi Lions wicketkeeper Krish Yadav got fined 100% for his actions.
“Aman Bharti has been fined 30% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.3 (Level 1) for the use of audible obscenity during a Match.
“Sumit Mathur has been fined 50% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.5 (Level 1) – Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.
“Krish Yadav has been fined 100% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.3 (Level 2) for the use of audible obscenity during a Match following an abuse from the opposing team player and pointing the bat towards the player,” the DPL announced.
Digvesh exits DPL 2025 with just 4 wickets in 9 innings at an economy of 10.20.
