With the IPL 2026 mini-auction reportedly scheduled between December 13 and 15, big decisions loom for the CSK management. Despite being a proven performer in previous seasons, Conway’s struggles in 2025 may lead the franchise to part ways with the left-handed opener to free up valuable funds for new talent.
But Conway isn’t alone. Other players reportedly under review include Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, and Sam Curran – all of whom were expected to play key roles but ultimately failed to make a significant impact.
Releasing this group could significantly increase CSK’s auction purse and give them the flexibility to target younger, in-form players or untapped domestic talent.
CSK’s failure in IPL 2025 highlighted deeper issues within the squad – lack of consistency, injury concerns, and underwhelming performances from experienced players. While the leadership of Dhoni remains a source of inspiration, the team can no longer rely solely on past legacies to carry them forward.
With the mini-auction approaching, CSK has a chance to refresh its core, invest in future stars, and reclaim the competitive edge that once made them the most feared side in the IPL.
