Tripura’s Ben Stokes is tired of knocking, in fact he is blasting the door down…
For years, Manisankar Murasingh has carried the hopes of Tripura cricket like a lone warrior marching into battle, bruised at times, but never beaten. People call him the Ben Stokes of Tripura, not for hype but for heart. He has delivered performances that have shaped this decade’s biggest wins for his state, yet the IPL auction table has looked past him again and again.
But this Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 season… this was different. This was Murasingh at his most ruthless, most irresistible, and most deserving.
Tripura may have finished the group stage with two wins, but Murasingh finished with a season that felt like a personal uprising.
He floated in the middle order, at number 5, 6, and 7, wherever the team needed him. And every time, he delivered like a man on a mission.
He started with a terrific 56 off 32 against Saurashtra, followed it with a brutal 40 off 17, and then a blistering 42 off 21 against Rajasthan and Jharkhand, respectively. But the innings that will stay carved in domestic folklore came against Karnataka.
Tripura were drowning at 106 for 6 chasing 198 in the last group game of the tournament against Karnataka, the domestic giant, smelling an easy win. But Murasingh as usual did not surrender as he counterattacked and led Tripura’s fight back.
He scored a breathtaking 69 off 35, which was not just a knock, it was a rebellion. He dragged Tripura to 197, forced a Super Over, and then helped script Tripura’s first-ever win over Karnataka.
It was outrageous. It was emotional. It was the innings of a man tired of waiting for validation. A decade of Heart. A Tournament of fire. But the question that still haunts.
The IPL 2026 auction is around the corner. Murasingh has done everything humanly possible. If the cricketing gods are finally watching, this, this, must be the year their blessings find him.
