Jasprit Bumrah Returns To NCA To Seek Clearance For IPL 2025: Report – News18
Mumbai Indians ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the National Cricket Academy (or the Centre of Excellence) in Bengaluru to seek clearance to play in the upcoming IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians. According to Cricbuzz, it is his second visit here in over a week and this time, it will decide how much part he be able to take in the season, having already been ruled out from the first few games due to his long-standing back injury.
According to the report, he felt some discomfort while bowling on the last visit, for which the NCA managers recommended specific exercises and a return at a later date. This time, they are said to be more ‘optimistic’ about his progress towards a complete recovery.
Now, if he feels comfortable while bowling without any pain or discomfort, he could be cleared to play in the IPL. However, the report said, the ‘general consensus’ was that Bumrah needed at least another week to be fit to play a league game.
“[Bumrah] has just started his progress," MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene said in a recent press conference. “We have to wait and see what their feedback is on him. At the moment, everything is going well. But, obviously, it is on a day-to-day basis. He is in good spirits. Not having him is a challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world and he has been a fantastic pro for us for many years.
“We’ll have to wait or find an opportunity for someone else to step up. That’s how I see it. It gives us an element of trying a few things and seeing how things work. The early part of the season allows us to do that," Jayawardene added.
