Chhatarpur: The construction work of Hindu village has started at Bageshwar Dham in village Garha in Chhatarpur district. Five blocks are being built in this Hindu village, whose names are named after the holy rivers. One of these is the Urmil River, whose name was earlier the Urmila River. Later, over time, its name became Apabhransh and became the Urmil River. It is popular that mother Sita’s younger sister Urmila came to meet this river as a river.
Matadin Vishwakarma, vice president of Maa Bambarbani Committee, says that the real name of the Urmil River in Chhatarpur district was Urmila River. This river flows near the Maa Bambarbani hill located in Lavkush Nagar. It is believed that mother Sita resided during exile on this hill. Mother Goddess situated on this hill is also known as Vanadevi. For years, this place has remained the center of faith for devotees.
Mother Sita used to bathe in Urmila river every day
According to folklore, mother Sita, who was living in exile, used to miss her younger sister Urmila very much. Urmila took the form of a river to meet her sister. In this way, she reached near mother Sita as Urmila river. Mother Sita bathed in the Urmila river every day and met her sister. This meeting was very pleasant and spiritual satisfaction for both sisters.
Prabhu Shri Ram is made on the rock
Matadin further states that there is also a place called Sinhapur in this area, where a martyr site is located. Here there are charan symbols of Lord Shri Ram on a rock. This rock is also situated on the banks of the Urmil River. It is believed that mother Sita used to see the feet of Lord Shri Ram after bathing in the Urmil river every day.
Over time, the name of the Urmila river became Apabhramshan and became the Urmil River. However, mythology related to this river is still alive among the local people. The elders of the village still tell the children about this holy story, due to which the religious and cultural significance of this river remains.
