New Zealand cricketing legend Kane Williamson who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will take part in the mega event as a commentator in the upcoming edition of the tournament. IPL 2025 is scheduled to start from March 22 and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the tournament’s opener at iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Broadcaster Star Sports announced the star-studded commentary panel for the cash-rich league where Williamson will be a national feed commentator.

Williamson is a two-time IPL champion as he was part of David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2016 and he also featured for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022 when they won their maiden title. Apart from Williamson, former cricketers likes of Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan will also be seen doing national commentary duties in the marquee event.

IPL 2025 will be the 18th season of the tournament which will kick off with an opening ceremony where Singer Shreya Ghoshal, Punjabi sensation Karan Aujla, and Bollywood actress Disha Patani will all perform in the star-studded evening.
