Bengaluru Police busted a black-ticketing racket ahead of the CSK-RCB IPL match, arresting four people and seizing 32 tickets, Rs 1 lakh cash and mobile phones.
Bengaluru Police busted a major black-ticketing racket for the high-profile Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Police arrested four people involved in the racket and seized 32 tickets with Rs 1 lakh in cash.
The police acted on a tip-off received on Friday, initially detaining one person in possession of 12 tickets, each with a face value of Rs 1,200, but allegedly being sold for Rs 10,000. Based on his interrogation, three more individuals were arrested near Miller’s Road on Saturday. They were caught with 20 more tickets, Rs 1 lakh in cash and three mobile phones.
Police identified Venkata Sai as the primary source of the bulk tickets. Officials suspect that he had access to large allocations and are now investigating how unauthorised individuals obtained such quantities. “This is not just a case of street-level touting,” a senior official said, pointing to deeper networks potentially linked with ticket distribution authorities, reported the Times of India.

With rising excitement around the CSK-RCB game, black marketers targeted fans online as well. Multiple complaints on social media allege ticket scams and cheating by unauthorised sellers. This comes just weeks after eight others, including stadium and canteen staff, were arrested for reselling IPL tickets, prompting further investigation into potential involvement of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) members.
