The Central Crime Branch police, in a series of raids since April 2 booked 15 cases and arrested 14 persons involved in cricket betting and selling tickets illegally.
City police commissioner B. Dayananda said that the officials also seized ₹54,000 along with the bank accounts having a total cash of ₹36 lakh. The police also seized chips used to sell to the punters for betting.
Probe revealed that the accused sourced complimentary tickets from companies and sold them at higher prices, while some tickets were being sourced from the staff of the cricket stadium. The police have already booked a few staff and employees of the stadium. Further investigations are under way.
Mr. Dayananda requested people to inform the police if they come across any betting or illegal sale of tickets.
