IPL Ticket Scam: The rush to get match tickets as cricket fans are enamored with the IPL has resulted in an increase in scams, with fraudsters preying on desperate purchasers. A lot of cricket fans who are excited to see their favorite players play are becoming victims of online ticket scams and losing their hard-earned money.
In a recent incident, a Bengaluru woman who went to Chennai to witness the RCB vs CSK match at the Chepauk Stadium was defrauded by an online fraudster. Karthik Kannan, a cricket analyst, shared a video of the victim’s experience on his X account, drawing attention to the issue. She and six other people were tricked into purchasing fake tickets, leaving them stuck outside the stadium.

As she described the experience, the woman said she came across a Facebook user posing as a volunteer at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He told her that he could give her seven of the tickets he had for sale. To reserve the tickets, he first requested a 10% advance payment. However, he demanded full payment after receiving the first amount before releasing the tickets. She declined, saying that she would only make the whole payment after meeting them in person.

The woman, who had come from Bengaluru just for the match, sensed foul play and even pleaded with the scammer not to fool her. She was upset, though, when her request was not answered.
