CID Arrests Hyderabad Cricket Association President Jagan Mohan Rao In IPL Ticket Scam Case – News18

Hyderabad Cricket Association president Jagan Mohan Rao was among the five officials arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a ticket scam during IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, officials said on Thursday.
Four other officials who were apprehended included JS Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer of HCA, Sunil Kante, CEO of HCA, Rajendra Yadav, Gen Secretary of Sri Chakra Cricket Club, and G Kavitha, President of Sri Chakra Cricket Club.
“Five have been arrested over embezzlement of funds, mismanagement, among other charges," a top police official told news agency PTI.
The HCA office bearers were taken into CID custody on Wednesday after Sunrisers Hyderabad levelled accusations against Rao and others during the IPL 2025 season, the police said.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered an inquiry into SRH’s plea seeking intervention of cricket governing bodies to halt the recurring “blackmailing tactics" by the HCA. In a letter to the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council, SRH had alleged that the HCA was “threatening" the franchise, mainly for more complimentary tickets.
The HCR denied all allegations by the IPL franchise.
The arrests were made after the Vigilance and Enforcement Wing submitted a report to the Telangana government regarding alleged problems with how tickets were distributed and how the HCA was run during the 2025 IPL season.

A preliminary report has reportedly confirmed serious accusations made by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against the HCA. These include claims of threats, pressure tactics, and blackmail over free tickets and access to corporate boxes.
SRH alleged that Rao locked a corporate box just hours before their match against Lucknow Super Giants on March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. He allegedly demanded 20 extra complimentary tickets. The franchise said this violated the tri-party agreement between SRH, HCA, and BCCI, which allows the HCA to receive 3,900 complimentary tickets — 10% of the stadium’s capacity.
