The player auction for the 2026 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to take place in mid-December, while all 10 teams will have to submit the list of retained and released players by November 15.
With the fast-approaching cricket calendar, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what each franchise has in store ahead of the mini-auction.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) endured a dismal IPL 2025 campaign, finishing at the bottom of the points table, and the five-time champions are likely to shuffle the deck.
According to a report published in Cricbuzz, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is planning to release Sam Curran, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, and Devon Conway.
Amid the growing chatter, CSK on Friday (October 10) addressed the retention rumours on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The franchise's new bio reads, "Nothing's official till you see it here." Before updating their bio, CSK shared a post, which read, “Don't worry, we've updated the bio.”

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was signed for Rs 9.75 crore by CSK in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has hung his boots from the cash-rich league, and hence, the franchise will have Rs 9.75 crore added to their auction purse.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore in last year’s grand auction, but he failed to justify the price tag. It remains to be seen if the KKR management retain him or part ways.
Among other players, Mohammad Shami, Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, T Natarajan, and Wanindu Hasaranga might also be released by their respective IPL 2025 franchises.
Australia’s Cameron Green has featured in the IPL for two teams – Mumbai Indians (in 2023) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (in 2024). He missed the 2025 edition due to injury but is now back in action. The lanky all-rounder is likely to be one of the top picks in the IPL 2026 auction.
