Rajasthan Royals’ Shubham Dubey became the first Impact Player to be introduced in a Super Over during an Indian Premier League 2025 match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
Dubey replaced Maheesh Theekshana before Royals’ bowling effort in the Super Over. This change came after Royals missed out on using the Impact Player during the regulation game.
The intent behind the move was to utilise Dubey’s fielding abilities during the Super Over. He, however, could do little to effect the game as Delhi Capitals romped home with two balls to spare in the first Super Over of IPL 2025.
This was the 15th Super Over in IPL and the first in nearly four years. Delhi Capitals extended its winning streak in Super Overs to four with the win on Wednesday.
