The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) will finally reach its 13th and last venue, and arguably the most beautiful, as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a crunch game in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday (May 3) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Assocation Stadium in Dharamshala
This is the first of three games at the venue in the ongoing season as PBKS will later host Delhi Capitals (8th May) and Mumbai Indians (11th May) in their next two games before they travel to Jaipur for their final away match of the season on 16th May.
The decision to play their home matches in Dharamshala continued a trend of PBKS playing their home matches across two venues. In the past, their original home venue was the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali, but they changed their base to the newly built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur last year.
However, the 2014 runners-up have been playing home games outside their main venue since 2010, when they first played in Dharamshala. The scenic venue has hosted home matches for the Punjab-based franchise in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2023, and 2024.
It is worth noting that while Dharamshala is not in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh falls in the catchment areas for the franchise, which were awarded to all founding member franchises in the first season.
However, this season is the first time that PBKS are playing three home matches in the hills, having played two each in previous seasons.
In between, PBKS also played their home games at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Overall, PBKS have played 13 matches at the venue and have five wins and eight defeats to show for.
The Shreyas Iyer-led team are one of three teams to play their home matches across multiple venues this season, alongside Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), who played two matches each in Vishakapatnam and Guwahati, respectively.
