The buzz around the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is already taking over social media, and this time, it’s all about Sanju Samson. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain and has found himself at the centre of speculation regarding a potential move to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2026 season. While nothing official has been announced, social media gesture by Samson’s manager has added fuel to the fire.
The speculation gained momentum when Prashob Sudevan, Sanju Samson’s manager, liked a viral post on X (formerly Twitter). This move hinted at the possibility of the RR captain being released ahead of the 2026 auction. What made fans think and take notice was that the same post also claimed that CSK had already approached Samson for this move. Check the post here.

Sanju Samson started his IPL career in 2012, though he did not play a match that season. It was in 2013 that he truly began to shine, quickly becoming a fan favourite with his elegant strokeplay. He represented RR until 2015, before moving to Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for two seasons.
In 2018, he returned to the Royals and has been an important part of the franchise since. Appointed captain in 2021, Samson led the team to the IPL 2022 final, where they lost to Gujarat Titans. He is also the highest run-scorer in RR history with 4027 runs in 177 matches with an strike-rate of 139.04 and average of 30.94.
In IPL 2025, Sanju has played 9 matches and has made 285 runs at an average above 35 and a strike rate over 140.
