Punjab Kings (PBKS) released Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction on December 16.
Maxwell, who was ruled out midway through IPL 2025 with a fractured finger, endured a difficult campaign, managing only 48 runs in six innings and finishing with four wickets.
His last four outings produced single-digit scores, with a best of 30 for last season’s runner-up.
He had been brought in for Rs. 4.2 crore at the 2025 auction, marking his third stint with PBKS and his fourth IPL team after earlier spells between 2014 and 2017 and again in 2021. Maxwell, who retired from ODIs in June, has shown better form in T20Is this year with 171 runs at a strike rate of 169.30, including an unbeaten 62 against South Africa in Cairns. Even so, PBKS has opted to move on.
