End of 10 overs: SRH- 85/2
It has been a quiet phase for SRH after a good powerplay. The momentum dipped noticeably during the last fours. Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar kept things tight while Gerald Coetzee broke through by removing Ishan Kishan, who never got going and fell for a scratchy 13.
Just 28 runs came in the four overs post-powerplay. Abhishek Sharma remains at the crease on 42* (25), but with the required rate climbing, he and Heinrich Klaasen now will have to carry the bulk of responsibility if SRH are to stay in the hunt for 225.
End of powerplay: SRH- 57/1
Chasing a massive target of 225, SRH got off to a solid start thanks to the opening partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
Mohammed Siraj was taken apart in the first over for 15 runs and Ishant Sharma’s two overs were expensive too.
A brilliant catch by Rashid Khan broke the 50-run stand and removed Head and gave the bowling side a much-needed breakthrough. At the end of the powerplay, SRH are 57/1 with Abhishek looking in good touch on 28* off 16 balls.
End of innings: GT – 224/6
Gujarat finish on 224 at the loss of 6 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. The top three of GT were among the runs again, as Gill and Buttler notched up respective fifties. Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia hit a few big shots in the end which ultimately took the score above 220.
The SRH bowlers pulled back things a bit in the end, as it once seemed GT would comfortably touch the 250-run mark. The Sunrisers need 225 to win to register their fourth victory of the season.
End of 15 overs: GT – 162/2
The first innings is in its last five overs, as Gujarat look to maximize their score with 8 wickets still in hand. Gill, who was looking good, had to return to the dugout for 76, owing to an unfortunate run-out.
A tough call for the third-umpire as it seemed Klaasen’s gloves struck the wickets, but after reviewing different angles and replays it was confirmed that it was the ball which hit the stumps ultimately.
Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar will look to keep the runs flowing.
End of 10 overs: GT – 120/1
Gujarat are cruising through the first innings. Sudharsan just fell short of his half-century as he tried to glide the ball towards third man but Klaasen takes a sharp catch behind the stumps. Kamindu Mendis provides the first breakthrough.
Gill (52) and Jos Buttler (19) will look to provide GT with a strong finish from here.
End of powerplay: GT – 82/0
Gujarat have started brilliantly against the Sunrisers. The openers Sai Sudharsan (45) and Shubman Gill (36) have taken the pacers apart. They will look to build on the momentum as they eye another 250+ score.
7:30 pm: It’s game time in Ahmedabad! Sai Sudharsan takes strike. Mohammed Shami will start the proceedings for SRH.
7:00 pm: SRH have won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gerald Coetzee makes his debut for GT in IPL 2025.
