Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya dismissed his Gujarat Titans counterpart Shubman Gill on Saturday (March 29). The 25-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab, who was retained for Rs 16.50 crore by the Ahmedabad-based franchise, handed a simple catch to Naman Dhir off Hardik’s bowling on the third ball of the ninth over of GT’s innings. Before returning back to the pavilion, Gill faced 27 balls, and with the help of four fours and one six, scored 38 runs.

Gill added 78 runs in 8.3 overs for the first wicket with B Sai Sudharsan at Narendra Modi Stadium for GT after Hardik invited the 2022 IPL champions to bat first in the ninth league stage match of IPL 2025.
After taking Gill’s wicket, Hardik gave a cheeky sendoff to Gill, and the video of his reaction is now going viral on the internet.

Hardik has dismissed Gill four times in five IPL matches played so far. In those five matches, Gill has only managed to score 11 runs from 18 balls against the 31-year-old all-rounder.

In GT’s first match of IPL 2025, which was played against Punjab Kings at the same venue on Tuesday (March 25), Gill scored 33 runs from 14 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes.
No Puthur for MI
Kerala spinner Vignesh Puthur, who picked up three wickets for 32 runs in four overs against CSK on his IPL debut last Sunday (March 23) is not playing for the five-time champions against Gujarat Titans. He was not included in the list of impact players as well which was raised doubts over his fitness. In addition to him, England all-rounder Will Jacks is also part of MI’s playing XI.
The former RCB batter was left out to make way for Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
