The Indian Premier League (IPL) is not just a cricket tournament, it’s a massive money-making machine. Among all T20 leagues across the world, IPL is the richest, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earns a huge chunk from it through ads, sponsors, broadcasting, ticket sales, and digital streaming.
As IPL 2025 came to a close with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally winning their first-ever title after 18 long years by beating Punjab Kings in the final, fans celebrated and so did the BCCI, thanks to the massive revenue it generated.
So, how much did BCCI make from IPL 2025? Let’s dive deep into this article.
This is the biggest money-maker. TV and digital rights were sold separately:
As reported by Sportstar, these broadcast rights brought in a massive ₹9,678 crore in total, meaning the BCCI earned approximately ₹130.7 crore per match from broadcasting alone.
The Tata Group is the title sponsor of IPL from 2024 to 2028, with a total deal worth ₹2,500 crore. That means every season, including IPL 2025, brings in ₹500 crore from Tata alone.
Besides Tata, many brands are involved in IPL. These include:
Match tickets, merchandise, and in-stadium sales are also a steady source of income. Though individual teams manage their own ticket sales, BCCI also gets a portion of this.
Revenue Sharing with Teams:
In the financial year 2024, BCCI’s total revenue was a whopping ₹20,686 crore, which is ₹4,200 crore more than what it made in 2023 (₹16,493 crore). Most of this came from IPL’s media rights.
With 108 cricket boards worldwide, the BCCI stands far ahead in terms of wealth. The 2022 media rights deal alone, with Disney Star and Viacom18, was worth ₹48,390 crore, making it one of the biggest deals in sports.
