The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League wound up on Tuesday with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning its first IPL title after it beat Punjab Kings in the final in Ahmedabad.
For over two months, IPL 2025 captivated audiences with its entertaining cricket, while also continuing to rake in revenue aplenty for all stakeholders.
Here is a breakdown of BCCI’s revenue from IPL 2025
The total broadcast fee for IPL 2025 amounted Rs. 48,390 crore, translating to Rs. 653.91 crore per game this season.
While the television rights were acquired by Star Sports, the digital rights were secured by Viacom18, owned by Reliance Industries Limited.
As per a report by the Economic Times, the number of advertisers in IPL 2025 grew by 27 per cent, to 105.
In 2024, the Tata Group had extended its title sponsorship of the IPL for another five years, from 2024 to 2028, for INR 2500 crore.
That deals amounts to Rs. 500 crores, for each of the season, including IPL 2025.
IPL 2025 also had an array of other sponsors, such as:
Tickets and other matchday sales offer a regular source of revenue for the league. IPL teams also make money through merchandise, sold through various channels. They also attract an impressive amount of advertisement and sponsorship prospects, which boosts revenue.
BCCI gets a cut from all these based on a revenue share model. As per sources, BCCI gets 20 per cent of central, sponsorship and ticketing revenue, and 12.5 per cent of licensing revenue from each team.
BCCI also provides provides each team Rs. 425 crores as part of a fixed central revenue and a variable revenue based on league position.
In the 2024 financial year BCCI reported a surge in its revenue, earning Rs 20,686 crore. In the 2023 financial year, it had announced a revenue of Rs 16,493 crores.
