India A Squad Announcement Live: The Indian men’s selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, has reportedly picked an India A squad for the first match of their England tour. With the IPL 2025 now extended, selectors will send a 14-man squad for the opening fixture and then a second batch will fly down at the start of the next month for the second game.
As per The Indian Express, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are part of the squad that will face England Lions in the first match. Joining them will be the likes of Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Tanush Kotian, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj and Manav Suthar.
India A will face England Lions in two matches. The first match will be held from May 30–June 2 followed by the next fixture from June 6–9. The third and final contest will be an intra-squad match from June 13–16. These matches will serve as warm-up for India’s five-match Test series against England that begins from June 20.
Devdutt Padikkal is recovering from a hamstring injury and hence may also miss the bus for the England tour.
With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired, two batting spots – opening and no. 4 – are lying vacant. The tour matches, therefore, present chances to the contenders to strengthen their claims ahead of the England Tests. B Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair, Abhimanyu Easwaran are among the hopefuls.
Madhya Pradesh and Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar may not be included for the England tour since he’s injured his finger.
