Myanmar earthquake: After the earthquake in Myanmar, India started Operation Brahma, which is now being discussed worldwide. Under this, relief material is being delivered to earthquake victims. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Saturday (29 March 2025) that India has sent two naval ships to the neighboring country under Operation Brahma. He said that a field hospital will also be sent to Myanmar by air lift.

Help being sent under Operation Brahma

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar on Friday afternoon, after this earthquake near Sagiing, 12 shocks of 2.8 to 7.5 magnitude were felt, causing the situation to worse in the affected areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that as a close friend and neighbor, India stands with the people of Myanmar in solidarity in this difficult time. He said that under Operation Brahma, disaster relief material, humanitarian aid, search and rescue teams are being sent rapidly in the affected areas.

Why was the operation named Brahma?

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that this special name (Brahma) of the operation has a special meaning. He said, “Today we launched Operation Brahma. Brahma is the god of creation, at such a time we are extending help to the Myanmar government and the people of Myanmar in the reconstruction of our country after destruction.”

A spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs said, “The first aircraft flew from the Hindon Air Force Base at around 3 am. It reached Yangon at around 8 am. Our ambassadors went there to get relief material and then handed it over to the Yangon Chief Minister.”

Life saving machines sent to Myanmar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the 80 -member NDRF team left for Myanmar to assist in rescue work. At the same time, many medical machines have also been sent to Myanmar. Indian Navy ships INS Satpura and INS Savitri were sent to Yangon port with 40 tons of human assistance.
