IPL 2025 final to honor Armed Forces in tribute to Operation Sindoor – indica News

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will dedicate the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 to the Indian Armed Forces as a tribute to Operation Sindoor.
The match, scheduled for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will also serve as a homage to the 26 civilians killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have decided to use the high-profile event to honor the armed forces and show solidarity following the military operation carried out in response to the attack.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that top military officials have been invited to attend the finale.
“We have invited all three service chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces to attend the IPL final on June 3 in Ahmedabad. The theme is to honor our heroes of Operation Sindoor,” Dhumal told IANS.
Official invitations have been sent to the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff.
Earlier in May, the IPL season was paused for a week amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack.
Military actions across the Line of Control and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir led to the suspension of matches.
The tournament resumed after a ceasefire agreement was reached between the two nations. As a result, the final — originally scheduled for May 26 — was moved to June 3, with remaining matches now being played across six designated venues.
Since the restart, the BCCI has introduced several initiatives to recognize the armed forces. The national anthem has been played before each match, and stadiums have displayed “Thank You, Armed Forces” messages on giant screens.
The teams that have reached the playoffs are Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Mumbai Indians.
