With the India ‘A’ team visiting England for two First-Class matches and an intra-squad game, a host of players are likely to miss the last leg of the league stage and the Playoffs of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The squad, led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, will reportedly depart for England in two batches, on May 25 and 27, ahead of the opening game which begins from May 30 in Canterbury. While players from teams that are no longer in contention for the Playoffs are likely to leave on May 25, the others will depart on May 27.
The league stage of the rescheduled IPL 2025 season will end on May 27, and the Playoffs will be held between May 29 and June 3.
Karun Nair (Delhi Capitals), Mukesh Kumar (Delhi Capitals), Akash Deep (Lucknow Super Giants), Shardul Thakur (Lucknow Super Giants), Harshit Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders), who have been named in the India ‘A’ squad, could potentially miss some games, provived their teams reach the Playoffs.
Delhi plays Punjab Kings in Jaipur in its last league-stage match on May 24, while Kolkata and Lucknow end their league campaign on May 25 and 27, respectively.
Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad in England ahead of the second game, which begins from June 6, and are unlikely to miss any games for their franchise.
