Mumbai Indians will hope to make the final with a win against Punjab Kings in the second Qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Sunday.
The five-time champion had beaten Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator on Friday. If the Hardik Pandya-led side manages the feat, it will be the first team since Kolkata Knight Riders (2021 season) to reach the final after winning the Eliminator and the second Qualifier.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is the only team to clinch the trophy after playing the elimination game. In 2016, SRH beat Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Lions in its Playoffs games and faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. The side then defended 208 runs in the final to claim the franchise’s maiden IPL title.
Chennai Super Kings (2011) is the only other team to qualify for the final from the Eliminator.
