IPL 2025: How Player Replacements Work & What’s Changed This Season

The IPL Season hasnight started, but several player replacements have alredy been confirmed. Here’s all you need to know about the new replacement rule.

Extended Replacement Window

Teams can now replace unavailable players until their 12th league match (Previous 7th).

Where can teams sign replacements from?

Only from the Registered Aawailable Player Pool (RApp) – Players who went unsold at the auction.

Who can be replaced Mid-SESON?

  • Players with a season-enjury/Illness confirmed by a Bcci Doctor.

  • MUST Occur on or Before The Team’s 12th Match.

  • Replaced players cannot return that season.

Can Teams Sign A Player for One Match?

  • No, Except in Rare Cases for WicketKepers if all regular options are unavailable.

  • A short-term keeper must be Indian if the team has 8 overseas players.

How to sign a replacement?

  • Submit Medical/Required Docs to Bcci for Approval.

  • Replacements are only allowed post-auction.

Salary Cap for replacements

Cannot Exced The Original Player’s Auction Price.

Net bowlers & replacements

Rapp Players Signed as Net Bowlers Can Be Picked By Any Team as a Replacement.
