New Delhi: Ex-Indian captain MS Dhoni is gearing up for the IPL 2025 season, which will begin on March 22. The opening match will feature a thrilling encounter between the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will kick off their IPL 2025 journey on March 23, facing their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians, at the historic MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dhoni, who was kept by CSK during the IPL 2025 mega auction, appears to be in great form, displaying his abilities in a recent practice session.

Under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK is targeting their sixth IPL title. A clip posted on X captured Dhoni effortlessly hitting a six in the nets, indicating he’s all set for the upcoming challenges. If he maintains this impressive form, fans can expect a thrilling performance from the veteran cricketer.

Dhoni’s remarkable power-hitting ability has always impressed fans, with his performances for both India and CSK standing out. Even as he ages, Dhoni has adapted his role with the bat, using the impact player rule to his advantage. In recent seasons, he has opted to bat lower in the order, conserving his energy for explosive innings in the final overs.
Last season, he demonstrated his skill with 161 runs at an average of 53.67 and a strike rate of 220.55. His 13 sixes and 14 boundaries showcased his immense influence on the field. Having been the leader since CSK’s inception, Dhoni has guided them to five IPL titles before passing the captaincy to Gaikwad at the start of the last season.
After missing the playoffs in IPL 2024, CSK is determined to make a strong return, aiming to reclaim their spot as a dominant force in the tournament. Despite finishing fifth with 7 wins and 14 points from 14 games, the team remains focused on achieving success this season.
