IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated standings after GT crush DC to qualify for playoffs – Firstpost

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is currently underway, with all 10 teams having completed at least four or five games. With each game carrying crucial points, the competition for the top four spots remains intense. Teams will be looking for consistency and improving their net run rate (NRR) to stay in contention for the playoffs.
Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a dominant performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, chasing down a challenging target of 200 runs with remarkable ease. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill put on a batting masterclass, stitching an unbeaten 205-run stand to secure a 10-wicket win with six balls to spare.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals had posted a strong total of 199/3 after being asked to bat first. KL Rahul was the star for DC, smashing 112 runs off 65 balls. Abishek Porel (30), Axar Patel (25), and Tristan Stubbs (21) provided useful support. Despite the big total, DC’s bowlers failed to break the GT opening stand and lost the game.
With this win, Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs and also helped Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru secure their spots. There is one more spot left in the race.
Here’s a look at the updated points table after the DC vs GT match:
Orange Cap: Sai Sudharsan (GT) — 617 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 156.99.

Purple Cap: Prasidh Krishna (GT) – 21 wickets in 12 innings at an economy of 7.85.
The final IPL 2024 league standings saw eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finish on top with 20 points from 14 matches, thanks to 9 wins, 3 losses, and 2 no-results. They were followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), both with 17 points, securing second and third positions respectively.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) completed a remarkable turnaround to clinch the fourth playoff spot. They won five matches in a row to finish with 14 points and edging out Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all of whom also ended with 14 points but had inferior NRRs.
Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered due to two no-results and a poor NRR, finishing 8th with 12 points, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) rounded out the bottom two.
