IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated standings after PBKS defeat RCB at Chinnaswamy – Firstpost

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is currently underway, with all 10 teams having completed at least four or five games. With each game carrying crucial points, the competition for the top four spots remains intense. Teams will be looking for consistency and improving their net run rate (NRR) to stay in contention for the playoffs.
The latest fixture of IPL 2025 witnessed Punjab Kings defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by five wickets in a rain-curtailed game at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB posted a lowly 95/9 after the match was reduced to 14-overs-a-side, with more than half of those runs coming from Tim David’s (50 not out off 26 balls).
Marco Jansen (3/10), Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11), Arshdeep Singh (2/23) and Harpreet Brar (2/25) collected two wickets each as PBKS produced another clinical bowling display after their unbelievable victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.
It wasn’t a smooth sailing for the Kings thereafter as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, getting reduced to 53/4 at one stage with pacer Josh Hazlewood striking twice in three balls, leading to expectations of another low-scoring thriller like the PBKS-KKR match in Mullanpur.
Nehal Wadhera, however, ensured Punjab weren’t at the receiving end of a dramatic twist like the one they produced against Kolkata earlier this week, smashing an unbeaten 33 off 19 balls to steer his side home with nearly two overs to spare.
Here’s a look at the updated points table after the RCB vs PBKS match:
Orange Cap: Nicholas Pooran (LSG) — 357 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 208.77.

Purple Cap: Noor Ahmad (CSK) – 12 wickets in 7 innings at an economy of 7.12
The final IPL 2024 league standings saw eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finish on top with 20 points from 14 matches, thanks to 9 wins, 3 losses, and 2 no-results. They were followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), both with 17 points, securing second and third positions respectively.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) completed a remarkable turnaround to clinch the fourth playoff spot. They won five matches in a row to finish with 14 points and edging out Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all of whom also ended with 14 points but had inferior NRRs.
Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered due to two no-results and a poor NRR, finishing 8th with 12 points, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) rounded out the bottom two.
