IPL 2025: Preity Zinta Moves Court Against PBKS Co-Owners Over Disputed Meeting – News18

Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has filed a legal case against her fellow co-directors, businessmen Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, in a Chandigarh court, even as the IPL 2025 season is ongoing, with Punjab already having qualified for the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.
Zinta, Burman and Wadia are directors of the KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns Punjab.
As per media reports, Zinta has challenged the legality of an Extraordinary General Meeting held last month.
Zinta has claimed that the meeting was held without following proper procedures under the Companies Act 2013 and other secretarial regulations.
Zinta has said that she had objected to the meeting in an email on April 10, but her objections were ignored. She has alleged that Burman proceeded with the meeting with support from Wadia.
Despite Zinta and another director, businessman Karan Paul, attending the meeting, she has asked the court to declare it invalid.
One of Zinta’s main concerns is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a director during the meeting, which she and Paul opposed.
In her suit, Zinta has requested the court to stop Khanna from acting as a director as well and to prevent the company from implementing any decisions made during that meeting.
Zinta further requested the court to prevent the company from conducting any more board meetings or GMs without the presence of her and Paul, and Khanna’s presence.
Despite these legal problems, Zinta has continued to support Punjab from the stands during IPL 2025. This season has been a strong one for the franchise.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab have already qualified for the playoffs for the first time in the last 11 years.

With 17 points from 12 games, Punjab are in third place and aiming for a top-two finish. They will next play the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Saturday, May 24 and the Mumbai Indians on Monday to wrap up their league stage.
Apart from the 2014 season when they topped the league table and finished runners-up, Punjab have just made one other playoff appearance in a competition that has been in existence for the past 18 years.
