New Delhi: There has been a big change in IPL 2025, but this time the entire schedule has not been changed, but only the venue of one match has been changed, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was earlier to be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but now this match has been shifted to Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
The reason for this change is said to be the bad weather of Bengaluru. Actually, a few days ago on May 17, the match between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also had to be canceled without playing due to rain.
Now the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Bengaluru in the future as well. Keeping this in mind, BCCI and IPL management have decided that the SRH vs. RCB match to be held on May 23 will now be played in Lucknow so that another match is not spoiled due to rain.
This change can also prove beneficial for RCB, as there is no possibility of rain in Lucknow for the next few days.
According to reports, the RCB team management was informed about this decision on Tuesday evening itself so that they could make their preparations accordingly.
Now, since RCB’s next match is to be held in Lucknow with LSG, i.e., Lucknow Super Giants, it means that RCB will play both its last matches of the league stage at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Talking about the points table at the moment, RCB has 17 points and is at number two. If it wins both its remaining matches, then it can finish in the top 2 and reach Qualifier 1 directly.
But if the match was canceled due to rain, RCB would not have gotten the required points, and their hopes of qualification could have been dashed. That is why the decision to change the venue has come at the right time for RCB, considering the weather.
IPL matches have been cancelled or postponed due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan in the past as well. Whenever there is tension on the border or a military confrontation between the two countries, it also affects the sporting events.
