The BCCI had earlier suspended the ongoing IPL season for a week due to rising tensions across the borders between India and Pakistan.

It started with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs. the Delhi Capitals (DC) match being called off due to poor floodlighting and Dharamshala, where the game was being played, being near the conflict areas.
The board is in discussions with the government, franchises, and broadcasters to resume the league as soon as possible without further interruptions.

According to a report in the Times of India, BCCI is considering hosting the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025 season in four venues, namely Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, on the possibility of restarting the league next week.
Speaking to TOI, the source said, “A week is a long time when it comes to such matters. The board is chalking out a contingency plan. But the initial feelers are that the BCCI is considering the rest of IPL matches in cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru if the league restarts next week.”
The source further added, “If things de-escalate at the border, the board might also retain the original venues.”
Kolkata and Hyderabad were to host the knockout stages already as per the original schedule, while Chennai and Bengaluru could be the new additions for the remainder of the league stage games to be played.
If the tournament resumes, it will start from the PBKS vs DC match, which was abandoned mid-way on May 8.
