It is that time of the year when cricketers will become richer as the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is upon us. The bidding wars for the 19th edition of the league will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena, marking the third instance in a row of the auction taking place outside after Dubai and Jeddah over the last two years.
Overall, a total of 359 players are set to go under the hammer. There are 77 slots available for the 10 teams, in which a minimum of 31 overseas players can be purchased.
Kolkata Knight Riders have the biggest purse in IPL mini-auction history with Rs. 64.30 crore in their purse. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will have Rs. 43.4 crore to spend. Mumbai Indians (MI) have just Rs. 2.75 crore in their purse, which is the lowest amount any team in IPL’s history has started an auction at.
Cameron Green is the most-sought-after player in the auction and could get a record-breaking bid. The likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ravi Bishnoi, Jamie Smith, Matt Henry are among the players that are set to see high interest in them.
A lot of uncapped players could get their first-ever IPL contract at a very high price.
