IPL 2026 Auction Dates Revealed; Retention Deadline On November 15 – Cricket.com
The cat is finally out of the bag, as the IPL 2026 Mini Auction is set to take place on December 15, according to Cricbuzz. The report further added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have narrowed down the window (Dec 13-15) for the mini auction.
However, there’s no guarantee that the auction will take place overseas or in the country like the last two years. In 2023, the IPL auction took place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, and in 2024, it happened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. All the auctions previous to that have happened in India.
The report also indicated that November 15 will be the deadline day for finalising the retentions for the IPL 2026 season. Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will shed a lot of players, given their poor display in the IPL 2025 season.
In all likelihood, CSK are ready to step away from Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran, and even Devon Conway for the upcoming edition. Ravichandran Ashwin (INR 9.75 crore) has already announced his retirement from Indian cricket, putting an end to his decade-long dominance in IPL.
