IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad announce their captain ahead of the mini auction – Khel Now

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced their captain for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Orange Army didn’t make any changes to their leadership group and confirmed that Pat Cummins will continue leading the team in the IPL 2026.
Pat Cummins has been one of the major reasons behind the turnaround of the SRH in the IPL. The pacer joined the franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 and was named captain, replacing Aiden Markram. He made an immediate impact and turned SRH into a completely different team. 
Pat Cummins, who is the Australia ODI and test captain, brought in a different culture and SRH since then has become the most threatening team. Their batting has looked out of the box as they have targeted totals of around 300, which says a lot about them. 
Pat Cummins took SRH to the final of the IPL 2024, where they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Although, they had a below-par season last year, teams feared them and they surely will be one of the hot favourites to win the title next year. 
The SRH recently also unveiled their list of retained and released players. The franchise retained their core group but also surprised with a few snubs in trading Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and leaving out Adam Zampa. 
Despite that, they look very strong on paper and would be keen to get some match-winners in the auction, which will take place on December 16. The SRH have a purse of INR 25.20 crore and have ten slots to fill heading into the auction. 
With focus on the auction, SRH announced Pat Cummins as captain through a social media post. They posted a video of Cummins with the caption: “A tune you’ve heard before. A Captain you’ve trusted always”.

Both Pat Cummins and SRH would be eyeing their second title in the IPL 2026. In last edition, they won six of their 14 matches and finished sixth, three points short of the playoffs.
