IPL trade update: SRH set to trade Mohammed Shami to LSG – theweek.in
Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami is set to move from SRH to LSG in a one-way cash trade deal
24 hours after the speculations around what his future IPL franchise would be, Mohammed Shami is all set to be traded to Lucknow Super Giant as per reports on Friday (November 14). Delhi Capitals were the other franchise who had shown interest in acquiring Shami’s services but it is LSG who have reportedly come out on top.
According to RevSportz, SRH have agreed to trade Shami in a one-way cash deal to LSG for his previous sold figure of Rs 10 crore. After missing the entire IPL 2024 season with injury, Shami had a very underwhelming campaign in IPL 2025, following which his future with SRH seemed uncertain.
Shami’s best stint came during his days with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022-23. He was GT’s leading wicket-taker in their victorious 2022 campaign with 20 wickets and took the Purple Cap in the 2023 season with 28 wickets. However, the Bengal pacer suffered an understandable dip in fortunes since his injury in late 2023.
Shami has not played for India since the 2025 Champions Trophy with chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar constantly stressing on the fast bowler’s lack of match fitness. Shami has revolted against these allegations and has pointed at his constant efforts in domestic cricket as a sign of his fitness meter.
LSG have constantly been a franchise with pace-heavy tactics in their bowling department and Shami’s potential inclusion will bolster their stocks. Meanwhile, sources say that SRH skipper Pat Cummins has urged his franchise to go all out for fellow Australian Cameron Green who could be a huge draw at the mini-auction.
Shami’s release would give SRH the big funds of Rs 10 crore and help fuel their ambitions at the IPL2026 mini auction scheduled next month.
