Dewald Brevis became the most expensive player in the SA20 auction after bagging 16.5 Million Rand, going past Aiden Markram’s price of 14 Million Rand. The Pretoria Capitals managed to beat Joburg Super Kings in an intense action drama, and the recent success in IPL and at the international level has proved quite beneficial for the 22-year-old.
Overall, it has been a stunning turnaround for the young batter who initially went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. He was bought midway through the 2025 season by the Chennai Super Kings, and his exploits there, has completely changed the trajectory of his career.
Chennai Super Kings bought Dewald Brevis for 2.2 Crore for IPL 2025, and it is pretty low compared to his salary in SA20. The 16.5 Million Rand is equal to US$9,42,000, and in Indian rupees, it will be 8.3 Crore approximately.
Thus, the increase in salary in terms of Indian rupees is –
8.3 Crore – 2.2 Crore = 6.1 Crore. Thus, Dewald Brevis will get 6.1 Crore more while playing for Pretoria Capitals in SA20 than he got from Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
The percentage hike can be calculated by dividing the increase in salary with the one in IPL and then multiplying it with 100. Thus, going by the formula, Dewald Brevis has got a whopping percentage hike of 277.3 from IPL to SA20.
Also, his new salary for the fourth edition of SA20 is 3.77 times what he got during the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.
If we consider that Dewald Brevis will play all 10 matches in the group stage, then he will get approximately 83 Lakhs per match from the owners of the Pretoria Capitals.
In the previous edition, MI Cape Town won the title and Brevis played a crucial role for them. This time around, he would be hoping to take Pretoria Capitals to their maiden title after the franchise’s struggle in the 2025 season.
