Jammu Kashmir Ramban Residents says Lost Everything In One Night by landslide

Jammu kashmir news: After heavy rains and hailstorm in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, the fierce landslide destroyed everything. The house that people built in the years were buried in the rubble in one night. Three people lost their lives in this natural disaster and dozens of families became homeless.

About 40 houses were damaged in many areas including Dharma Kund village of Ramban, out of which 10 were completely demolished. The devastation of the scene is still imprisoned in the eyes of the local people.

‘When he arrived, the whole market was missing’
Om Singh, a resident of Ramban, said, “I live a short distance. The flow of water was very fast from there. When I reached the spot, I saw that the entire market including my shop had disappeared. I have never seen this before.”

‘There were two shops, nothing is left now’
Shopkeeper Ravi Kumar said, “I had two shops. At 4 in the morning, it was found that the whole market was swept away. When he reached here, there was nothing left. We could not understand whom to ask for help.

Cars buried in debris
Local resident Sunil Kumar said that his new car also got buried in the rubble. He said, “I was going to Srinagar, but the rain stopped at Ramban. The landslide occurred at 3 am. The two floors of the hotel were buried in the rubble. There were 15 people on the floor above, which we took out safely. 8-10 vehicles including my car have been buried in debris.”

Police and army rescue operation
Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police Kulbir Singh said that all the police stations have been kept on alert. About 100 people have been safely taken out. Apart from this, the Indian Army is constantly providing food, medicines and necessary assistance.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s response
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the officials are monitoring the situation and relief work is on priority. The local administration has been instructed for immediate relief and rescue operations. At the same time, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that due to landslides, NH-44 has been closed and the administration is providing relief to the people.

Heavy losses in Dharma Kund village
About 40 houses have been affected by the sudden floods in Dharma Kund village. Of these, 10 houses collapsed completely while the rest suffered partial damage. The Indian Army is also engaged in relief work and is providing food and drinking things to people.
