ASP – Assistant Superintendent of Police

The full form of ASP is Assistant Superintendent of Police, which is called Assistant Superintendent of Police in Hindi. This rank is the initial post of IPS (Indian Police Service) officer. That is, when a candidate is made IPS through UPSC, then first he is appointed to the post of ASP.

DSP – Deputy Superintendent of Police

CI – Circle Inspector

CI is a full form of Circle Inspector, which is also called CO -Circle Officer in many states. This officer is the head of a police circle, which includes many police stations. That is, all Thanedars (SHOs) report this.

SI-Sub-Inspector

SI is a full form of Sub-Inspartor, which is called a sub-inspector in Hindi. It is posted in rank police stations and is equipped with legal powers like investigation, FIR, arrest. This post is common in many countries of South Asia including India.
