l2 empuraan controversy bjp mp suresh gopi clarifies rumors of pressurising makers for 24 cuts in film in parliament | संसद पहुंचा ‘एल2: एमपुरान’ विवाद, 24 कट पर सुरेश गोपी ने दी सफाई, बोले
L2-Epuraan Controversy: Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal’s film ‘L2: Empran’ is doing a good collection at the box office. On the other hand, the controversy over the film is not taking the name of stopping. ‘L2: Empran’ controversy has now reached Parliament where BJP MP and actor Suresh Gopi has given clarification on 24 cuts in the film. He has claimed that there was no pressure on the makers by the censor board to make changes on the makers.
In fact, on April 3, MP John Britas claimed in the Rajya Sabha that the makers were pressurized to show the 2002 Gujarat riots in ‘L2: Empran’. In response, Suresh Gopi said- ‘This is a fact and this is true, which I want to tell Indian citizens. No pressure has been put on the producers of ‘L2: Ampuran’ from the sensor.
‘I am ready for any punishment’
Regarding the removal of the name from the credit scene of ‘L2: Empran’, Suresh Gopi said- ‘I was the first person to call the makers to remove my name from Thank You Card at the beginning of the film. It is true. If it is found to be false then I am ready for any punishment. With the permission of the director of the film, the film producers and lead actor decided to remove 17 parts from the film.
Why is the controversy about ‘L2: Empran’?
The 2002 Gujarat riots were shown in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s direction and lead film ‘L2: Empran’. Prithviraj’s role in the film was inspired by Zayed Masood and there was a dispute about these scenes. In such a situation, the makers sought permission from the censor board to install some cuts in the film. After getting approval from the censor board, 24 cuts were allegedly installed in the film.
