Urvil Patel, the 26-year-old batter from Gujarat, made headlines earlier this year with his fiery debut in the Indian Premier League. Urvil was a part of the Chennai Super Kings for the IPL, which concluded this year.
The batter made his IPL debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders and started his journey in yellow with a blistering 31 off just 11 balls. He impressed one and all with his power and terrific stroke play.

Urvil has now shared an emotional moment involving MS Dhoni, when the legendary cricketer met his family after CSK’s game in Ahmedabad.
After impressing everyone in his debut, Urvil went on to play the last two league games for CSK as well, one of which was in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, his home state.
While talking to the GC Podcast, Urvil shared an interesting moment when his father and his family came to watch CSK’s match, only to meet the legend MS Dhoni. “That was the best moment,” Urvil said (on his father and family meeting MS Dhoni)
Urvil shared that his family skips seeing him play, as they are often nervous and scared, but when CSK had a game in Ahmedabad, he specially called his father to ensure he met MS Dhoni.
“I told my father, even if you don’t watch the match, Mahi bhai is here…I want you to meet him. I have already met him, so now my only dream is for you to meet him. My father then specially came to watch the game because of him (MS Dhoni).”

The lovely conversation shared by Urvil is a testimony to the respect and love that MS Dhoni still garners from the people, even after so many years of his retirement from International cricket.
Dhoni has left a significant impact on the cricketers and the fans from around the world, not only for his achievements as a cricketer, but also for his humility and how he carries himself off the field. The never-ending love for the great man can be seen when fans fill the stadium yellow, wherever he plays.
Moving forward, as MS Dhoni’s return to the Indian Premier League next year remains uncertain, Urvil Patel might well get a chance to fill in the boots of his inspiration as a wicket-keeper playing for the Chennai Super Kings.
