One Billion Viewers Tuned In To Watch IPL 2025 On JioStar – News18
JioStar, the official broadcast and streaming partner for IPL 2025, achieved record-breaking milestones with an unprecedented one billion viewers across TV and digital platforms. The eagerly awaited 18th edition, showcasing both the rise of ‘Generation Bold’ and the iconic ‘Generation Gold,’ reached a historic cumulative watch-time of over 840 billion minutes.
JioHotstar, the league’s digital hub, set new records with over 23.1 billion views and 384.6 billion minutes of watch-time, marking a 29% year-on-year increase in digital viewing. This growth was largely driven by a significant 49% rise in Connected TV (CTV) consumption, highlighting the expansion of large-screen digital viewing in India alongside the existing penetration of linear large-screens.
On linear television, the league set a new standard for live broadcast viewership, with Star Sports delivering 456 billion minutes of watch-time and achieving the highest average TVR (rating) across the viewing universe and key demographics on the network.
The IPL 2025 Final amassed an unprecedented 31.7 billion minutes of watch-time across JioStar’s platforms (Star Sports and JioHotstar), making it the most-watched match in T20 Cricket history. Across both linear and digital platforms, the final set new records in T20 Cricket history. On TV, powered by Star Sports, it reached the highest ever audience for a T20 match with 169 million viewers and 15 billion minutes of watch-time. On JioHotstar, the match made digital history as the biggest T20 match ever with 892 million video views, 55 million peak concurrency, and 16.74 billion minutes of watch-time.
This season will be remembered as one of the most iconic in the league’s history, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning the trophy, Virat Kohli securing his first IPL title, and 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi becoming the youngest centurion at this level. It will also be noted for innovations in viewing experiences on JioStar’s platforms, including MaxView 2.0 – the enhanced mobile experience with intuitive “swipe" navigation for clips, dedicated FAST channels for key fan groups, voice-based video search, and VOD content in 12 Indian languages.
